1-Year-Old Victim Of Mesa Drive-By Shooting Dies

One of the 6 victims of a drive-by shooting in Mesa has passed away. The 1-year-old victim died from his injuries on Sunday.

The other victims are expected to live, but have injuries ranging from severe to minor.

On Friday night, the occupants of a small SUV opened fire on families attending a food truck event in a parking lot near Dobson and Guadalupe roads.

According to the Mesa Police Department, four children, ages 1 -16, and 3 adults were injured in the drive-by shooting.

Police say that at approximately 9:30 p.m., a white or silver Kia Soul-type or small box-type SUV drove up on Guadalupe Road and opened fire toward the families that were eating.

Police say a worker returned fire at the vehicle before it fled the scene.
