YUMA – Two U.S. citizens were arrested by Border Patrol agents last week after they attempted to smuggle humans into the country.

Agents assigned to the Blythe Station arrested the two smugglers for trying to smuggle three illegal aliens through the Highway 78 immigration checkpoint on Thursday night.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, agents referred the smugglers’ Mazda hatchback to the checkpoint’s secondary inspection area after a trained canine alerted to the vehicle at approximately 5 p.m.

Agents instructed the occupants to get out of the vehicle and discovered two illegal aliens sitting in the back seat and one hiding in the rear cargo area.
