Tucson Tax Preparer Sentenced For Obtaining Fraudulent Refunds

TUCSON – A Tucson tax preparer, Adan Ramirez, was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to aiding and assisting the preparation of false tax returns.

Ramirez, age 37, was also ordered by U.S. District Judge Rosemary Marquez to pay $100,479 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

According to the Department of Justice, Ramirez presented fraudulent claims for wages, withholdings, dependents, Earned Income Credits (EIC), and Additional Child Tax Credits (ACTC) to obtain tax refunds.
