Drunk Woman Found Asleep In Mesa Roadway With Child In Backseat

A drunk woman was arrested by Mesa Police officers after they found her asleep in her vehicle with a child onboard.

According to the Mesa Police Department, on February 7, shortly after 3:00 p.m., Mesa Police officers saw a car stopped in the roadway at Country Club and 1st Ave in Mesa. Officers walked up to the car and found Alvina Johnson sleeping at the wheel with her foot on the break.

Officers also saw a 6-year-old child in the back seat of the vehicle.

The Mesa Police Department says officers woke Johnson up and believed she could be intoxicated. Johnson showed multiple signs of impairment, according to police, and admitted to drinking Vodka before driving. A preliminary breathalyzer test indicated a .211 blood alcohol content.

Johnson was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated DUI a Felony.
