Over 165K Hens Dead In Hickman Egg Farm Fire

Over 165,000 hens were killed, two barns burned to the ground, and one man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation due to a fire at the Hickman’s Egg Farm in Tonopah.

On Saturday afternoon, crews from the Buckeye Valley Fire District (BVFD), Goodyear, Avondale, and Harquahala battled the two alarm commercial fire.

When crews arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and fire coming from one metal barn structure with extension to a second barn.

Crews were able to contain the fire to two structures and keep the fire from spreading to adjacent structures.
