PHOENIX — Phoenix Fire Department personnel responded to the scene of an accident involving a car that slammed into a light rail train. The train derailed near 12th and Washington streets Sunday evening, injuring six people.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sunday.
A medium-sized vehicle sent the train far off the tracks when it crossed the track lines and collided with a rail car.
Service Alert: Due to a derailment trains cannot service stations between 38th St/Washington and Roosevelt/Central Ave. Buses are transporting riders between these two stations. Trains are not on schedule but are running 30 minutes apart. #vmservice #PHXtraffic
