An Apache Junction police officer who was shot while chasing a suspected stolen vehicle on Tuesday afternoon is recovering after surgery.
The shooting occurred just before 4 p.m. near Crismon Road and Main Street in the east Valley.
The officer was pursuing a stolen vehicle when the driver attempted to ram the patrol vehicle. There was an exchange of gunfire and the officer was hit.
One suspect was shot and taken to the hospital. Another suspect was taken into custody.
