Tucson Police Investigation Death Of 17-Year-Old

Tucson Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred on on April 5, 2021, just after 10:30 p.m., at 41 S. Shannon Rd. – a large apartment complex.
According to the Tucson Police Department, when officers arrived to the area, they found a passenger vehicle that had collided with a utility pole. The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old male, was found with gunshot trauma and officers immediately began rendering aid. Tucson Fire personnel arrived and continued life-saving efforts ultimately transporting the victim to Banner University Medical Center.
While officers were speaking with witnesses, a vehicle with multiple occupants arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital. One of the occupants had sustained gunshot trauma and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. He has been identified as 17-year-old Francisco Ramon Santamaria Aguirre.
Detectives learned that a confrontation had occurred in the parking lot. During the confrontation, gunfire was exchanged, which resulted in the first victim and Francisco Aguirre being shot. No other injuries were reported and no suspects have been identified.
Detectives are continuing the investigation and are actively following up on leads. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
