On Friday, two correctional officers assigned to the Lewis Prison, were arrested on charges of promoting prison contraband. The two officers, Daniel Aguilar and Gustavo Leon, were arrested onsite.
The arrests occurred as part of a months-long investigation conducted by the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Both Aguilar and Leon immediately resigned their positions with the Department upon arrest.
The investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
