Son Arrested In San Tan Valley’s Woman’s Death

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in connection with a homicide that occurred on Aril 14.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, on April 14, at around 10:00 a.m., deputies were called to a home on W. Allens Peak Dr. in San Tan Valley after a friend discovered 56-year-old Gladis Mopecha deceased in her home. Her adult son, 29-year-old Taboh Mopecha, was also in the home and was identified as the suspect.

Mopecha, was arrested for first degree murder as well as outstanding warrants.

The investigation is ongoing, and as a result, detectives are asking residents in the area to please check their security cameras for video of the suspect, a Black male, 5’9″, who may have been on foot or riding a black mountain bike with skinny tires between 4:00 p.m., on April 13 and 10:00 am on April 14.
