Casa Grande Police Identify Man Killed In Officer Involved Shooting

Casa Grande – The Casa Grande Police Department has identified 52 year-old Edward Robbesom as the subject of a deadly officer involved shooting. The Casa Grande Police Officer involved has been identified as 6-year veteran Curtis Kieser.

According to the Casa Grande Police Department, on April 23, 2021, at 8:20 p.m., they received multiple calls of shots fired in the 600 block of West 13th Street in Casa Grande. At least one of the callers stated someone had been shot.

When officer arrived, they discovered Robbesom and a female subject in the front yard of a residence. The female was lying on the ground in distress and Robbesom was standing holding a firearm.

Casa Grande Police officers directed Robbesom to drop the firearm. He refused to drop the weapon and Officers Kieser fired his service weapon, striking him, the department says.

Officers began providing first aid immediately. Additional officers arrived on scene and assisted in providing first aid to the female who was suffering from what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the right chest area. Fire and Medical responders also arrived and assisted in providing first aid.

Robbesom succumbed to the gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene. The female was flown to a Phoenix area hospital for treatment of a gunshot injury and is expected to survive.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene, police determined Robbesom shot the female subject. Police do not know what led to the altercation between Robbesom and the female or what their relationship was.
