Tucson Police Arrest Second Suspect From Fatal Downtown Shooting

Tucson Police Department officers have made a second arrest in connection with the heinous fatal shooting of Mark Edward Doe.

Alexis Enrique Diaz, age 19, was taken into custody on Thursday. On Monday night, Luis Alberto Garcia, 21, was arrested at a hotel in the 600 block of East Wetmore Road.

According to the Tucson Police Department, on April 25, 2021, just after 2:00 a.m., several 911 calls were received reporting a shooting at the multilevel parking garage located at 345 E. Congress St. Upon arrival, officers were directed to the 52-year-old Mr. Doe on the first floor, near the exit. Officers found Mr. Doe with obvious gunshot trauma and immediately began rendering aid until Tucson Fire arrived and pronounced him deceased on scene.

Detectives learned from several witness interviews that Diaz and Garcia had approached and attempted to rob multiple victims in the garage. After several attempts, Diaz and Garcia, armed with a handgun, carjacked a white Nissan pickup truck. Diaz and Garcia collided with several vehicles as they drove the truck towards the garage exit. Once at the exit, several individuals, including Mr. Doe, attempted to intervene and confronted Diaz and Garcia.
