A Tucson man, Michael Caylor, is in custody after leading Sahuarita Police officers on a short car chase.

According to the Sahuarita Police Department, on May 5, 2021, at about 6:09 a.m., Sahuarita officers attempted a traffic stop Caylor driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse for a window tint violation. The vehicle failed to yield for officers, and a brief pursuit was initiated. Due to the area and speed of Caylor’s vehicle, the pursuing officer terminated the pursuit.

A short time later, Pima County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies spotted the vehicle on I-19. The vehicle attempted to evade law enforcement by cutting across the freeway median, but the vehicle became disabled. Caylor fled on foot near I-19 and Pima Mine Road but was not located despite an extensive search.

At about 10:00 AM, the Sahuarita Police Department received a report of a suspicious person near the Desert Diamond Casino.

Sahuarita officers responded and, after a short foot pursuit, arrested the 37-year-old Caylor.

A records check revealed that Caylor had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest.

Caylor was booked into Pima County Jail for the outstanding warrant and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
