Yuma Police Looking For Deadly Hit And Run Driver

On Wednesday, May 05, 2021, at approximately 1:38 a.m., Yuma Police officers responded to a report of an injury collision in the 1900 block of W. 32nd Street.

The initial investigation revealed one adult, 18 year old male, and two juveniles, both 16 year old males, were traveling eastbound in the 1900 block of W. 32nd Street while riding BMX style bicycles. The 18 year old and one of the juveniles were struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on 32nd Street.

Both riders that were struck were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center. The 18 year old male was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:16 a.m. and the 16 year old male was further flown to a Phoenix area hospital with serious injuries.

The second juvenile was not struck and is unharmed.

The vehicle that struck the bicyclists fled the scene eastbound on 32nd Street. It is believed to be a silver 2011-2013 Chrysler 200. The suspect vehicle should have front end damage to include the grill and headlight areas.

The case is still under investigation.
