Former Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods was fired from prominent law firm Gallagher & Kennedy last month likely because he tweeted that Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick should sell the team to “someone who cares,” a sports publication reported. Gallagher & Kennedy, which has represented the Diamondbacks since the team’s inception in 1995, denied any insinuation that the sports organization pressured the firm into firing Woods. “So, the AZ @Dbacks today set the record for most consecutive road losses in the history of baseball. In Spring Training, we said this team is noncompetitive and an insult to fans. KK needs to sell the team to someone who cares. Or don’t expect us to care,” Woods tweeted on June 17. KK is referring to Ken Kendrick, who is also a Republican megadonor, usually spending hundreds of thousands of dollars each election cycle.
