Phoenix Woman Arrested With $1.5 Million In Fentanyl In Lunch Box

A woman is in custody after she was caught with drugs in her lunch box by Gila County Drug, Gang, and Violent Crimes Task Force personnel.

Gesel Edith Diaz Acosta, age 21 of Phoenix, was arrested for Transportation of a Narcotic Drug for Sale, Possession of a Narcotic Drug for Sale, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Acosta’s vehicle on Highway 87 and the BIA 101 for a civil traffic violation. Acosta consented to a search of the vehicle.

During the search of the vehicle, approximately 50,000 M-30 pills laced with suspected fentanyl were seized from a lunch box container hidden in the vehicle. The suspected fentanyl pills seized had a street value of approximately $1,500,000.00.

Acosta was booked into the Gila County Jail in Payson, Arizona.
