Trump Accuses Boyer Of Being A ‘RINO’ And Holding Up Forensic Audit

Former President Donald Trump waded into down ticket races in Arizona on Thursday when he took on Arizona State Sen. Paul Boyer and all but endorsed his primary opponent, former State Representative Anthony Kern. Boyer, who often thwarts GOP priorities in the State Senate, came under attack for his complaints about the audit of the Maricopa County 2020 Election.

While the attention of President Trump and Boyer’s response to him elevated his profile to temporary rock star status among Democrats and members of the legacy media, the Senator’s growing status as a pariah in his own party increased as well.

Trump wrote in a statement Thursday from his Save America PAC:

“Republican Arizona State Sen. Paul Boyer, a RINO if there ever was one, is doing everything in his power to hold up the damning Forensic Audit of Maricopa County which has been taking place over the last 90 days. The people of Arizona are demanding it. Boyer has been nothing but trouble, and nobody knows why. All we demand is Voter Integrity!”

The dust up between the two men appears to have started when Sen. President Karen Fann tweeted that the entire Senate Republican Caucus, except Boyer, supported a resolution of contempt against the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors for not fully complying with the subpoenas issued by the State Senate.  Boyers refusal to support the resolution meant it failed, as Senate Democrats were unanimous in their opposition.  Boyer responded to Fann by attacking the audit itself, putting him not only at odds with most GOP voters, but according to a recent poll, as many as two in five Democratic voters who have a favorable view of the audit.

For his part, Boyer responded to Trump’s tweet with his own attacks, earning him support from Democrats who were happy to see him take on the former President:
