Phoenix, AZ – From Governor Doug Ducey to members of the AZLGBT Caucus, politicians are calling on Arizona State Sen. Tony Navarrete to resign as details of sexual allegations against him are revealed.
Navarrete, a founder of the AZLGBT Caucus, was arrested on Thursday and appeared in court on Friday after being charged with three counts of sexual conduct with a minor (class 2 felony), two counts of sexual conduct with a minor (class 6 felony), one count of attempted sexual conduct with a minor and one count of molestation of a child.
Navarrete, serving his second term as a senator in District 30, had been expected to announce his intentions to run in the Arizona Treasurer’s race.
These are deeply disturbing charges, and while everyone is innocent until proven guilty, Senator Navarrete needs to resign. We must hold our elected leaders to the highest standards.

Senator @NavarreteAZ should resign now.
When an #Arizona elected official is accused, resigning their office instantly becomes a value point as they negotiate the best deal possible. That should not be a part of this.
Take it off the table ASAP. Clear the path to move forward. pic.twitter.com/oAFx9hIghm
