On Wednesday, the Arizona Department of Gaming announced Event Wagering is set to “go-live” in the state on September 9, as well as Fantasy Sports Contests to “go-live” on August 28.

Monday, August 9, was the close of the application period for parties interested in an event wagering operator license. During this period, ADG received 10 applications seeking licensure as a professional sports team/organization, and 15 applications seeking licensure as an Arizona Tribe.

Starting yesterday, August 10, ADG has up to five (5) business days to determine if applicants qualify for licensure as an event wagering operator pursuant to A.R.S. §5-1301(7). If ADG determines there are more qualified applicants than available licenses, ADG will then have up to eight (8) business days to allocate the licenses to qualified applicants. In order to ensure an equal opportunity for all qualified applicants, ADG will utilize criteria outlined in R19-4-106(E) during the evaluation process prior to allocating the available event wagering operator licenses.
