The Peoria Police Department has recently filed multiple charges against several members of the Alfartousi family for allegedly targeting a pregnant 20-year-old female relative. The multi-jurisdictional investigation involves multiple crimes including kidnapping and aggravated assault occurring over the past two-years.
On August 26, the Peoria Police department served three search warrants at two homes in Peoria and an apartment in Glendale. The victim’s parents and siblings were arrested and were booked into jail on the following charges:
• Zahraa Alfartousi – DOB: 04/19/1990 – Kidnapping (Domestic Violence), Aggravated Robbery, Threats, Disorderly Conduct
• Yaser Alfartousi – DOB: 07/04/1986 – Kidnapping (Domestic Violence), Aggravated Robbery, Disorderly Conduct (Domestic Violence)
• Fares Alfartousi – DOB: 01/01/1958- Kidnapping (Domestic Violence), Aggravated Robbery, Disorderly Conduct
• Bashir Alfartousi – DOB:02/25/1985- Kidnapping (Domestic Violence)
• Ali Alfartousi – DOB: 07/08/1988 – Kidnapping (Domestic Violence), Aggravated Robbery, Threats
• Souad Alfartousi – DOB: 07/28/1962 – Kidnapping (Domestic Violence), Aggravated Robbery
According to the Peoria Police Department, in May of 2021, Peoria Police AZ initially responded to a threats call where the family of the pregnant woman’s boyfriend were being threatened by the suspects. The victim family said the suspects were threatening them and demanded that the pregnant 20-year-old woman be returned to them or they would kidnap a young family member of the caller’s family.
Through their investigation, Peoria detectives discovered that the pregnant woman along with her boyfriend and his family have filed more than 20 separate police reports with different Arizona police agencies. These reports ranged from complaints of disorderly conduct and harassment to an escalation of aggravated assault and kidnapping. The victim’s brother, Bashir Alfartousi was arrested by Yuma Police Department and booked in March 2021 for attempting to kidnap the victim. According to the Yuma Police report, she stated that her brother had successfully kidnapped her and had planned to bring her back to her family where she would have likely been killed.
Peoria detectives additionally learned of a kidnapping on August 18, 2021, in the City of Avondale. In this incident, the victim’s family kidnapped her from a parking lot as she arrived at a doctor’s appointment. Ali, Yaser, Zahraa, Souad and Fares pulled the victim into a vehicle and began punching her in the stomach. Two witnesses in the parking lot came to the aid of the victim allowing her to escape.
