Although there is some debate as to whether the Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau (CCR) was fully functional, Rep. Paul Gosar has sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken asking why the Biden administration chose to dissolve it. The CCR is a unit within the Department of State that was intended to be tasked with rapidly evacuating Americans who came into harm’s way while overseas.

According to FOX News, “CCR was formed under Trump-era Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and was tasked with providing “aviation, logistics, and medical support capabilities for the Department’s operational bureaus, thereby enhancing the secretary’s ability to protect American citizens overseas in connection with overseas evacuations in the aftermath of a natural or man-made disaster.”

“Just as the Taliban was beginning its march across Afghanistan, the Biden administration shockingly canceled a program designed to provide logistics, medical, and airlift support to protect American’s overseas in connection with evacuation efforts,” alleged Gosar in a press release. “Now, American servicemen and women are dead and countless Americans remain trapped behind enemy lines, stranded in Afghanistan and Mr. Biden cannot guarantee their safe withdrawal.”

Gosar says the “CCR was designed to prevent this very catastrophe from occurring. He called the cancellation of the “this program at a time when the Biden administration should have been finalizing well thought out plans to remove our citizens from Afghanistan is, to be perfectly blunt, idiotic.”

“This combined with Mr. Biden’s disastrous troop withdrawal in Afghanistan leaves no question that Mr. Biden is not fit to hold the highest office in the land and should be impeached,” concluded Gosar.

Thirteen U.S. service members were killed Thursday in the Kabul terrorist attack. Seven of the American heroes have been identified thus far.
