Two Mesa Public School Students Charged With Making False Threats At Schools

MESA, AZ – On September 17, 2021, two students from different schools located in Mesa were criminally charged with making false threats at two separate Mesa Public Schools.

A 14-year-old female student attending Red Mountain High School located at 7301 E. Brown Road was charged with Threats, a class one misdemeanor, after claiming she had an explosive device in her backpack on September 17, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.

Once the student was identified she was contacted and admitted to making the false threats. The juvenile was released to her parent and charges were filed through the Maricopa County Attorney, Juvenile Division.

Also on Friday, a 15-year-old male student attending Dobson High School located at 1501 W. Guadalupe Road was charged with Threats, a class one misdemeanor and Interference with or Disruption of an Educational Facility, a class 6 felony, after posting a threat on a social media platform on September 17, 2021 at 7:30 a.m., leading to the lockdown of Dobson High School.

When contacted by investigators the student admitted to posting the threat on-line. The juvenile was released to his legal guardian and charges were filed through the Maricopa County Attorney, Juvenile Division.
