Yuma Woman Arrested After Shooting Prompts Evacuation

On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at approximately 7:04 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2600 block of S. 19th Avenue in reference to a shots fired call.

While on their way to the scene, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) deputies learned that Ashley Haven fired a handgun during a domestic disturbance. When deputies arrived, she barricaded herself inside the residence and failed to comply with deputies. Due to the immediate threat, surrounding residents were evacuated from the area, and a nearby school was alerted as a precautionary measure.

The YCSO Special Response Team and Crisis Management Unit arrived to assist with the barricaded woman. She ultimately exited the residence and was taken into custody after being subdued with less than lethal force.

Haven, age 31, of Yuma, was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for disorderly conduct involving a deadly weapon and endangerment.
