PHOENIX — A Phoenix mother, Esther Callejas, has been arrested for shooting her two children on Monday. One child, 2-year-old Esperanza Isidro, passed away from her injuries.
According to Phoenix Police, the 24-year-old Callejas was booked into jail on Tuesday for one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
On Monday, Phoenix Police Department officers responded to a home near 8th Place and Broadway Road just before noon in response to a shooting call.
Callejas reportedly called her husband and another family member and told them she just killed the children,.
The 6-year-old son, who hasn’t been identified, is still in critical condition.
