Peoria Man Dead After Allegedly Pointing Gun At Officers

A 25-year-old Peoria man, Adrian Begay, as killed after he pointed aa gun at officers responding to a domestic violence call.

According to the Peoria Police Department, at around 3:45 a.m., on October 10, 2021, two Peoria Police officers responded to a domestic violence incident reference a suspect attempting to strangle a victim in the area of 11600 N. 79th Drive, in Peoria. When officers arrived, Begay approached them in the parking lot. Begay was armed with a gun and pointed the gun at his head.

Officers say they negotiated with the Begay for several minutes. During the conversation, Begay allegedly moved the gun from being pointed at his head and pointed it toward officers. Each officer fired at least one round, striking Begay.

Officers and Fire-Medical personnel performed life saving measures; however, he died on scene.

No officers or innocent bystanders were injured during this incident.

Officers involved in this incident were wearing body worn cameras, and they were activated. This investigation was turned over to detectives from the Buckeye Police Department as part of the West Valley Investigative Response Team.
