Peoria Police Investigating “Road Rage” Shooting

PEORIA, AZ – The Peoria Police Department is investigating a possible case of road rage that occurred in the are of Happy Valley Rd. and 91st Avenue.

According to the Peoria Police Department, on October 20, 2021 at approximately 7 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting. The caller said they believed this was a possible “road rage” situation and that a man was shot and laying in the roadway. The alleged shooter also called to report the incident and had pulled his vehicle south onto 91st Avenue to wait for officers.

When officers arrived they found the man, who was the driver of a grey Dodge Charger with a gunshot wound to his leg. Peoria Fire-Medical Department responded to the scene and later transported the man to the hospital with non-life threating injures.

The man driving a red Honda Civic who shot the other man was detained and was not injured.

Investigators believe that the driver of the red Honda pulled in front of the grey Dodge on Happy Valley Road at 91st Avenue and then stopped. The driver of the grey Dodge exited his vehicle and approached the driver of the red Honda at the driver’s window. An altercation occurred at the window and at some point, the driver of the Honda shot at the man striking him in the leg.

There was a child passenger in the Dodge that was not injured. The child was turned over to another family member who responded to the scene.

No arrests have been made. Arrests and/or charges will be determined after further investigation.
