Arizona State Reps. Lupe Diaz, of LD14, and Brian Fernandez, of LD4, were sworn into office on Tuesday at the Arizona House.
Rep. Diaz’s appointment was made to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Becky Nutt.
Rep. Fernandez’s appointment was made to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of his mother Charlene Fernandez, who stepped down to take a job in the Biden administration.
Currently, three seats remain vacant in the House. All three vacancies are expected to be filled prior to the start of the Legislative Session in January. All three seats, one in the Phoenix area, and two in the Tucson area were vacated by Democrats and must be filled by Democrats.
