Man Arrested After Jumping Out Of Southwest Plane On Tarmac

A man with mental health issues, according to his family is in custody after he exited a Southwest Airline plane after it landed, but before it reached gate at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

On Saturday morning, as Southwest Flight 4236 approached the gate, 30-year-old Daniel Ramirez got out of the plane through a rear galley door. as it was taxiing to the gate. The airline says that at point, the captain stopped the plane and notified air traffic controllers.

An injured Ramirez then walked over to a fire station where he locked himself in a dormitory room. Fire station personnel were able to coax the injured man to unlock the door, and he was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Ramirez has been booked on two felony counts of trespassing.
