A previously deported felon was apprehended by Wellton Border Patrol agents after he illegally entered the U.S. again.

According to Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem, agents apprehended Rosario Lugo-Parra, a migrant with multiple felony convictions for which he served extensive prison time.

Agents encountered the 62-year-old Lugo-Parra, a migrant from Mexico, in the desert approximately 35 miles south of Tacna, Arizona.

Agents conducted a records check and discovered Lugo-Parra was convicted of narcotic drugs for sale in Phoenix in 1988 and was sentenced to four years in prison. Then, in 1999, Lugo-Parra was convicted in Phoenix again for aggravated assault with a weapon and robbery and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Lugo-Parra was convicted once again in Phoenix in 2010 for assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession for sale and sentenced to nine years in prison.

Lugo-Parra also has several formal removals from the United States. He will be prosecuted for re-entry of a removed alien and faces additional prison time.
