A Pinetop man, Patrick Andre Gathignol, was taken into custody by Navajo County Sheriff’s deputies in connection with a domestic dispute.

According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Department, on December 28, 2021, at approximately 1:43 pm, a juvenile called a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute between the mother and her boyfriend, Gathignol, at the 3400 block of Mark Twain Drive in Pinetop.

Deputies responded to the location of the 911 call regarding a domestic dispute involving a weapon. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that Gathignol had left the area and he was later located and was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

Deputies on scene conducted an investigation and it was determined that Gathignol and the victim began to argue which escalated to him allegedly discharging a firearm inside a room where the victim and three juveniles were attempting to hide from him. The victim was injured by an object that was thrown at her by Gathignol. None of the juveniles were physically injured.

During the investigation, it was learned that Gathignol had several outstanding non-extraditable warrants out of California and was a prohibited possessor of weapons.

Gathignol was booked for four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Domestic Violence, Criminal Damage/Domestic Violence, four counts of Endangerment/Domestic Violence, Prohibited Possessor, and Aggravated DUI. He is currently being held on a $50,000.00 cash-only bond.

“Unfortunately this is another tragic case of domestic violence where children were involved,” Navajo County Sheriff Clouse stated. “Domestic violence can be one of the most difficult situations to talk about and escape from. If you or someone you know is in a situation that is unsafe, please reach out to us or someone you trust for help. I am proud of the work of our Deputies who responded so quickly and resolved the situation without anyone getting hurt. This situation could have been so much worse with the violent acts of aggression, impairment, and history of felonies in the suspect’s past.”
