Phoenix Police are investigating the death of pedestrian Edward McHale.
According to the Phoenix Police Department. on January 16, 2022, at about 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision in the area of 44th Street and Osborn Road. Officers learned that Mr. McHale was crossing 44th Street in the crosswalk when he was struck by a black Nissan passenger vehicle heading southbound on 44th Street.
Mr. McHale was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The adult male driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver did not show any signs of impairment.
Preliminary information suggests Mr. McHale crossed the street against a do not walk signal.
At this time the investigation is ongoing.
