Tucson 13-Year-Old Stabs Mother To Death Over Video Games

crime scene notice

A Tucson 13-year-old, Isaiah Ainuu, killed his 60-year-old mother, Mary Ainuu, over video games at their home in Rita Ranch last week.

According to the Tucson Police Department, on January 11, 2022, a 9-1-1 call came in just after 9:00 p.m. from a residence in the 8200 block of S. Via Del Forjador. The caller told dispatchers that his neighbor came over seeking help, after she had been stabbed in her home.

Dispatchers were also informed that the suspect was the victim’s son and that he fled from the area after the stabbing.

Tucson Fire Medics arrived on scene and began rendering aid to Ms. Ainuu while officers began searching for Isaiah.

Isaiah was eventually located several blocks away on E. Esmond Loop and he was arrested.

Ms. Ainuu was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Several hours later, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Detectives believe Isaiah was in a verbal confrontation with his mother about video games. As the confrontation escalated, Ms. Ainuu was physically assaulted and ultimately stabbed.

At the conclusion of a search warrant, detectives charged Isaiah with 1st Degree Murder/Domestic Violence. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
