Yavapai County Sheriff's Office

On Monday, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a man who needed medical attention and rescue after he had crashed his paraglider on Antelope Peak in Yarnell.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) Back Country Search and Rescue team found the man about a third of the way down the south side of the mountain, where he reported to be in extreme pain but could not feel anything from the waist down.

A DPS Air Rescue Ranger was called to assist in what was described as “a dramatic” long-haul rescue lift off the mountain face. The rescue took over an hour due to the terrain and power lines the landing zone area.

Once the Ranger was able to land, the victim was transported by Life Line Ambulance to the Yarnell Fire Station, where he was then flown by Native Air to Deer Valley Hospital with unknown injuries.
