Sahuarita Man Arrested For Shooting Gun And Setting Off Fireworks From Backyard

A 29-year-old Sahuarita resident, Michael Hunter, was arrested after a foot pursuit for a weapons violation that occurred on Wednesday morning.

According to the Sahuarita Police Department, on January 19, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 700 block of Calle La Bolita. When officers arrived, they detained multiple subjects. Hunter fled the residence.

Hunter was later apprehended by officers after a brief foot pursuit near the intersection of Paseo Celestial and La Villita Rd.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and learned that multiple gunshots and fireworks were fired into the air from the backyard.

Hunter was booked into the Pima County Jail for Weapons Misconduct and an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant.

There were no injuries stemming from this incident, and the other subjects at the residence were released.
