Remains Of Missing Florence Man Found 4 Months Later

The remains of 91-year-old George T. Robinson Sr., have been found according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

On September 23, a Silver Alert was issued for the Florence resident after he left his home headed to Walmart in Coolidge and did not return. On September 29, Florence Police detectives located Mr. Robinson’s car nearly 200 miles away on the Kofa Wildlife Refuge in La Paz County.

La Paz County Search and Rescue conducted a search for Robinson, but was unable to locate the missing man.

Earlier this month, Pinal County Search and Rescue was contacted by Florence Police Department detectives requesting assistance on what was now a cold case. On Saturday, January 22, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office led a multi-agency search. At approximately 11:00 a.m. Mr. Robinson’s remains, ending the 4-month search nearly to the day.

“Thanks to the combined efforts and cooperation of multiple agencies and volunteer groups, we were able to bring some closure to a mourning Pinal County family,” said Sheriff Mark Lamb. “This is an extraordinary example of how law enforcement in Arizona works together on cases such as these. I am grateful to all who gave their time to bring Mr. Robinson home.”
