Yavapai Silent Witness Offering Up To $10,000 Reward For Arrest Of Suspect In Officer Shooting

Yavapai Silent Witness is offering up to a $10,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest or arrests in the case of the Yavapai Apache Police Officer Preston Brogdon, who was shot on the Yavapai Apache Indian Reservation at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI has identified Valentin Rodriguez as a person of interest in the case and are asking the public’s assistance in locating him as he may have further information on the shooting.

Officer Brogdon was shot near the Tunlii housing area and the department has been working tirelessly since then to identify and apprehend the suspect in this incident.

The Yavapai-Apache Police Department says Officer Brogdon is a five-year veteran and “an integral part of the of the Yavapai-Apache Police Department. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition with several more surgeries ahead of him after sustaining the gunshot wound. He is surrounded by his family and many members of the law enforcement community are at the hospital in support as well.”

“Our tribal members are heartbroken that the sanctity of this man’s life has been so violently disrupted. I can promise that I and my staff will work ceaselessly to assist the FBI in finding this man and making sure he is brought to justice,” said Chief Nathan Huibregtse. “I want to personally thank the public for the outpouring of support for our department and Officer Brogdon’s family. We will all keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Valentin Rodriguez, age 39, is a Hispanic male, 5’9”, about 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He may be a member of or connected to the Yavapai Apache tribe in Camp Verde, AZ. Anyone with information about Rodriguez’s whereabouts, is asked to contact the FBI Phoenix Field Office at (623)466-1999.
