UPDATE: Multiple Phoenix Police Officers Shot Responding To Incident Near 54th Avenue And Broadway

UPDATE: Phoenix Police Chief Williams says at least 9 officers and a woman were injured in shooting at home near 54th Ave. and Elwood. One officer was critically injured and 5 of the other victims, do not have life-threatening injuries and are recovering in the hospital.

The woman was critically injured and the suspect was found inside the home deceased.

According to Williams, the first officer on the scene was shot when he approached the home, the suspect opened fire and hit the officer multiple times.

The other officers were shot when another officer tried to reach a baby sitting in a carrier in front of the house and the man inside continued to fire.

Authorities are asking members of the public to avoid the area 54th Avenue and Elwood Street, just north of Broadway Road after multiple – possibly up to 5 police officers have been shot.

Phoenix Police say the incident started after 2 a.m. and one person remained barricaded inside a home as of 6:00 a.m.
