Tucson Police Arrest Woman In Fatal Hit-And-Run Of Elderly Man

The Tucson Police Department has made an arrest in the homicide of 79-year-old Anthony Ames that occurred on March 24. Detectives identified the suspect as 20-year-old Elaine Vernette Boone.

According to the Tucson Police Department, Boone was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail on the charges of Aggravated Assault
Dangerous Instrument, Aggravated Assault Serious Injuries, and her outstanding warrant of 2nd Degree Homicide.

On March 24, 2022, just before 4:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of North Columbus Boulevard, where they found Mr. Ames and woman injured in a parking lot. Both victims were taken to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Boone had left the area before officers arrived.

Detectives discovered there had been a confrontation in the parking lot before Boone hit the victims with a vehicle before running away.

Mr. Ames died on Saturday, April 2 due to injuries he sustained at the scene.
