Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Deadly Collision

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly collision that occurred on Saturday.

On April 16., 2022 at approximately 12:03 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of the two-vehicle collision in the 2900 Block of W. 1st Street.

The initial investigation revealed that a silver Lexus ES330 was traveling westbound on 1st Street when for unknown reasons, it crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane. At the time, a black Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling eastbound on 1st Street when it swerved to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. The front end of the Lexus collided with the front end of the Trailblazer.

The driver of the silver Lexus, identified as Maria Villa, 43, of Yuma, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for life threatening injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
