Human Smugglers Keep Southern Arizona’s Operation Safe Streets Task Force Busy

On Tuesday April 19th, the Operation Safe Streets task force conducted two separate traffic stops that resulted in the arrest two human smugglers from Mesa.

The first incident occurred at 6:45 p.m., when members of the task force conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on East Hereford Road and Highway 92 south of Sierra Vista.

The driver was transporting three undocumented immigrants inside of the vehicle.

Then at approximately 7:10 p.m., task force members force conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Toyota on South Palominas Road and Highway 92 south of Sierra Vista.

The driver, US citizen, was transporting two undocumented immigrants inside of the vehicle.

According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office all subjects were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol.

Operation Safe Streets is a joint effort by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Border Patrol, Arizona Department of Public Safety, and the Sierra Vista Police Department.
