Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a drowning that resulted in the death of twins, 3-year-old Valentina Ruiz and Penalapi Ruiz.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, on May 2, 2024, around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a home in the area of 2800 South 65th Lane regarding a drowning call. When officers and Phoenix Fire personnel arrived, they located two children being given CPR by family after they were found in the backyard pool. Phoenix Fire took over life saving measures of the children. Both girls were transported to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
Detectives believe the incident is consistent with an accidental drowning. At this time, there is nothing that investigators have found that appears suspicious.
