Brianna Zerth, age 29,  was arrested this week by officers with the Peoria Police Department after she reported killing her cousin with a hammer.

On Wednesday, just after 12 p.m., Peoria Police Department officers responded to a medical call near 111th and Olive avenues. When officers arrived, they found the 33-year-old man dead inside Zerth’s home.

Preliminary information shows the cousin was Zerth’s roommate.

Zerth’s 6-year-old daughter was also in the home at the time.

Zerth was booked into jail on second degree murder, tampering with evidence, and aggravated assault charges.
