Tucson Police Department detectives have arrested 17-year-old Fabian Kristyan Montiel for the murder of 70-year-old Linda Marie Mendibles.

According to the Department, October 20, 2021 officers responded to a call requesting a welfare check near W. 18th St. and S. Frontage Rd. Officers found Ms. Mendibles unresponsive near the northwest corner of the intersection. Officers found her with obvious signs of gunshot trauma and pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Months later, Montiel was found on Tucson’s Southside and was taken in to custody. Montiel was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail/Adult Detention Complex. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond for his warrant for 1st Degree Murder.
