Phoenix Police Arrest Suspect Who Admitted Shooting, Killing Man

Phoenix Police are investigating an incident that has left a 29-year-old man dead in the area of 48th Street and Southern Avenue

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on May 21st, just after noon, officers were called to a shooting at a residence near 48th Street and Southern Avenue. When officers got there, they contacted a man, later identified as Anthony Villalpando, who told officers he had just shot a man. That man, identified as Juan Gomez-Amaya, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside of his vehicle, and ultimately died from his injuries on scene.

As the investigation developed, evidence at the scene led to the arrest of Anthony Villalpando, who was later booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
