Phoenix Teen Killed By Teen Playing With Gun

Phoenix Police are investigating a homicide that has left 14-year-old Emir Rivas dead.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, on May 17th, officers were called to a hospital in the area of 11th Street and McDowell about a shooting. When officers arrived, they learned that a 14-year-old male, later identified as Emir, had been riding in a vehicle, and was shot by a 15 year old male that was playing with a firearm.

Police say evidence at the scene suggested that the shooting was accidental.

Police have not identified the 15-year-old male, who was later booked into jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
