A man was shot by a suspect who then ran over him in a strip mall parking lot. The suspect drove away from the area before police arrived.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police were called to the area of 51st Avenue and Indian School Road about a hit and run Sunday afternoon at around 3:15 p.m. When they got there, they found a man shot and laying just inside a strip mall parking lot. The man, later identified as 56-year-old John Kearns, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The officers were informed Kearns was shot by the driver of a vehicle, then ran over by that vehicle when it drove away from the area.
The investigation remains active.
