A San Tan Valley man, Roberto Garcia, pleaded guilty to illegally casting a vote in the 2020 General Election. The case was investigated and is being prosecuted by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office Election Integrity Unit.

According to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Garcia entered the guilty plea on Monday, July 25, 2022 in Pinal County Superior Court.

Garcia had been previously charged in an indictment issued in March of 2022, which alleged that Garcia falsely completed a voter registration form indicating that he had not been convicted of a felony or that his rights had been restored. Garcia, however, had previously been convicted of two felony offenses and had not had his rights restored since his second conviction in 2006.

He faces a sentence of between 6 months and 2.5 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections. Garcia is due back in Court for sentencing before Judge Jason Holmberg on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 1:30 pm.
