A tractor-trailer driver nearly killed himself and an Arizona Department of Public Safety State trooper this week.

On Monday, July 25, 2022, an AZDPS trooper and a La Paz County Sheriff’s Office deputy were stopped at the scene of an earlier collision in the right lane of westbound Interstate 10 at milepost 27, in Quartzsite. The driver of an oncoming tractor-trailer failed to slow down and move over for the law enforcement vehicles with emergency lights stopped ahead of him. The truck struck the trooper’s patrol vehicle, then hit the deputy’s vehicle, and then went off the right side of the road and collided with the hillside.

The deputy and trooper were not in their vehicles when the crash occurred and did not sustain injuries. The truck driver was also uninjured.
