Phoenix Police Investigating Death Of Pedestrian

Phoenix police detectives responded to 51st Avenue and Encanto Boulevard to investigate a traffic collision involving a pickup truck colliding into a pedestrian.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, in the early morning hour of August 10, 2022, Phoenix police responded to a call of a collision with a pedestrian in the area of 51st Avenue and Encanto Boulevard. Officers on scene located Alberta Lavetta Cons, who died as a result of her injuries.

Officers contacted an adult male driver of a pickup truck who was involved in the crash involving Ms. Cons. Another adult male driver of a different truck was also contacted on scene who had been hit by the pickup truck.

The pickup truck was going south on 51st Ave. Traffic was slowing down and back-up for a disabled vehicle in the curb lane. The pickup truck swerved to the left and collided into another truck who was going north on 51st Ave. After colliding into the truck, the pickup truck swerved to the right and collided into the pedestrian who was standing on the sidewalk near her disabled vehicle. Both vehicles remained on scene. At the time of the investigation, there was no signs of impairment with either drivers. There were no other reported injuries.
