Man Facing Potential Charges In Gilbert For Pointing Gun At Skateboarder

On August 14, 2022, Gilbert PD received a delayed report of an aggravated assault that took place on August 13, 2022, near the 900 Block of E Guadalupe Road.

The reporting party showed officers a video of a male subject, identified as 68-year-old Bernardo Aillon, as he exited his vehicle and approached a male victim skateboarding down a handrail. The video also showed Aillon walk toward the skateboarder while pulling a handgun from his waist and simultaneously instructing the skateboarder to leave. The video concludes shortly after.

The victim and suspect were contacted and interviewed by Gilbert officers. Aillon’s firearm was seized and placed into evidence.

Criminal charges against Bernard Aillon of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds have been referred for review to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Gilbert police released the following statement in reference to the incident:

“It is imperative that investigations are thoroughly investigated and documented prior to submitting criminal charges against an accused. The alleged behavior captured in the video is not tolerated in our community. We appreciate the community’s patience as we gathered the necessary evidence to conclude this investigation.”
